How to Experience and Maintain Personal Revival After Fasting, Part 3 (Fasting Edition #74)

Our fasting quote of encouragement today is from Thomas Aquinas. He said: “An action is virtuous due to its being directed by reason to a noble good. And this is true of fasting. For we fast for three purposes: (1) to restrain the desires of the flesh; (2) to raise the mind to contemplate sublime things; (3) to make satisfaction for our sins. These are good and noble things, and so fasting is virtuous.”

Our fasting devotional today is titled “HOW TO EXPERIENCE AND MAINTAIN PERSONAL REVIVAL AFTER FASTING” (part 3) from Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ.

Here are four more ways that you experience and maintain personal revival in your life as a Christian after you have fasted.

9. Hunger and thirst after righteousness. Matthew 5:6 reads, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

10. Love God with all of your heart, soul, and mind. Matthew 22:37 reads, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”

11.Appropriate the continual fullness and control of the Holy Spirit by faith on the basis of God’s command and promise. Ephesians 5:18 reads, “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” 1 John 5:14,15 reads, “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

12. Read, study, meditate on, and memorize God’s holy, inspired, inerrant Word daily. Colossians 3:16 reads, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
