Does God Work Miracles Today? Part 24 (The Prayer Motivator Devotional #393)

14 Sep

Our prayer motivator passage from the Word of God today is Matthew 6:9-13 which reads: “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

Allow me to share with you some important insights regarding this passage from Matthew Henry’s Commentary:

Our hearts’ desire and prayer to our heavenly Father every day should be, that he would forgive us our debts; that the obligation to punishment may be cancelled and vacated, that we may not come into condemnation; that we may be discharged, and have the comfort of it. In suing out the pardon of our sins, the great plea we have to rely upon is the satisfaction that was made to the justice of God for the sin of man, by the dying of the Lord Jesus our Surety, or rather Bail to the action, that undertook our discharge.

We will discuss this passage further in the next broadcast.

My personal encouragement to you today is 4 ways to pray for other people: 1. Realize the person’s present exalted position in Christ. 2. Present the person as a living sacrifice. 3. Ask that the person be filled with the Holy Spirit. 4. Ask that God will guide the person to become regular and systematic in the study of God’s Word.

Our prayer motivator quote today is from George John Blewett. He said: “The last and highest result of prayer is not the securing of this or that gift, the avoiding of this or that danger. The last and highest result of prayer is the knowledge of God — the knowledge which is eternal life — and by that knowledge, the transformation of human character, and of the world.”

Our prayer motivator devotional today is part 24 of our series titled “DOES GOD WORK MIRACLES TODAY?” from Dr. John R. Rice.

Christianity is a miracle religion. The Bible is a history of past miracles and a prophecy of miracles to come! Every saved soul has already had a spiritual miracle, and one day every saved person will have a physical, literal, miraculous resurrection, or translation, of his body, as wonderful as the resurrection of Jesus Christ and of the same order.

I believe if we are conscious that the Holy Spirit of God lives within us, that angels are all about us, that a miracle-working God still sustains all things, it will be easier for us to believe that God can and will answer our prayers, that He has limitless ability and limitless willingness to do what we need done for us whom He loves so well!
