Our fasting quote of encouragement today is from Hermes. He said: “When you are going to fast, observe it in this way: first, avoid any evil and desire, and purify your heart of all the vain things in the world. Your fast will be perfect if you do this. And this is the way you should eat: after fulfilling all you are supposed to do on your fast day, then eat nothing but bread and water, and of the food which you were going to eat, measure out the same quantity and give this to a widow or orphan or other needy person.”

Our fasting devotional today is titled “FIVE STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL DANIEL FAST” (PART 27) from Susan Gregory, author of the bestselling book “The Daniel Fast”.

Study A Book in the Bible (Part 3)

You also may want to read “the Proverb for the day.” There are 31 chapters in the book of Proverbs, so match the chapter number with the date and you’re ready to go! For example, if it’s the fifth day of the month, read Proverbs 5. Easy and simple. You can also add Psalms to your monthly reading routine if you’d like by reading five psalms each day. Multiply the date times five each day to find which psalm to start with. For example, if it’s the fifth day of the month, multiply five by five. You would then read Psalm 25-29 for the day. This method is a powerful way to feed your spirit with God’s love and truth.
