Our fasting quote of encouragement today is from Joseph Hart. He said: “If the life is not one of self-denial—of fasting—that is, letting the world go; of prayer—that is, laying hold of God then prayer is neither spiritual or profitable.”
Our fasting devotional today is titled “FIVE STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL DANIEL FAST” (PART 33) from Susan Gregory, author of the bestselling book “The Daniel Fast”.
Find Your True Identity (part 5) Here are some more Bible verses that will help you discover your true identity in Jesus Christ:
Romans 8:38-39 reads, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
2 Timothy 2:12 reads, “If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:”
1 Peter 2:4-5 reads, “To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”
Remember, your fast is a spiritual discipline. It’s easy to focus so much on the change in diet that the prayer and meditation can fall behind. So again, plan for your successful fast by choosing the methods you will use to consistently feed on God’s Word. You will be pleased if you take time to plan the spiritual food you will feed your spirit during your Daniel Fast. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 4:4, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
